Mojotone Loudspeakers
Mojotone Loudspeakers are a continuation of Mojotone's on going search for vintage correct sounds from their rapidly expanding line of guitar and guitar amp parts. They had created a wide variety of speakers with different tonal qualities that could range from the tweed amp sounds of 1950's American jazz to late 1970's British stadium rock. The speakers were designed to replace or upgrade the stock speakers in a players amp or speaker cabinet. Mojotone Loudspeakers can also be pre-loaded into any Mojotone speaker cabinet would come as part of their famous DIY amp kits creating a complete brand experience.
The Project
This was one of my first branding projects as the in-house graphic designer at Mojotone and it became the spring board in which I would re-brand their visual identity over the next few years. The speaker line was in particular need of some brand unity so I began working on ideas on the side. When a new speaker was being introduced I had already created the designs and the new name "Mojotone Loudspeakers" along with a cohesive design style.
The Design
My goal was to create a unified brand that would allow for individuality of each product so that it could express its own unique characteristics visually. I created a template that would be used across each design with areas to be modified for the specific speaker or series of speakers.
The geometric circular designs became a defining design element for Mojotone for their ability to give each product an identity of its own while maintaining strict brand guidelines. For example, the Greyhound is designed to blend the sounds of two other speakers so I used two sets of concentric circles meeting in the middle to express this unique quality whereas the Watchtower was designed for those players looking for a more hard rock "psychedelic EXPERIENCE." The mandala captures the vibe of this era and sound while maintaining the circular motif.

The Product
WIth a now unified look accross the product and packaging design, Mojotone Loudspeakers now had an identity that could, and would, stand next to competitors like Celestion and Jensen.
In addition to packaging and label designs, I also designed a landing page on the Mojotone website to link potential online customers and provide rich SEO content. The page was then created by our in-house web-master Steve Snyder.
The marketing team created a series of demo videos for each speaker and a "taste test" video of all the different variations. I lead the team in concept and ideation and provided art direction on the set and final editing. All videos were shot and edited by Carlos Perez, performances by Justin Cody Fox and audio recording and mixing by Worth Weaver of Red Room Studios.
