MojoZine 

Monthly Email Newsletter and Quarterly Print Publication

Providing consistent and relevant content to your audience is vital in any online business, but even with the variety of social media channels to deliver this content, email remains a very important source of contact with our customers. MojoZine was created not only as a source of content to engage our audience, but to also create FANS of the brand and grow our DIY culture.

The Project

Mojotone's email newsletter engagement was under performing and in need of an update. Our goal was to increase our open rate and grow our subscriber list with an interested and engaged audience. We knew to do this that quality and relative content was going to be key so looking at previous analytics we were able to gauge what the readers were interested in and gain insight on how to improve on those categories and expand in to other relative content.

The Design

With the goal of gaining FANS and growing our DIY culture we landed on the aesthetic of a handmade Fan Zine. These were popular in music subcultures of the 70's and 80's and lended itself perfectly to the DIY nature of Mojotone's products. We accomplished  this by not only creating artwork with halftone dots and posterized effects, but also in the format. Every quarter we would collect all of our interviews and tech articles and compile them into a physical 8.5" x 5.5" publication that could be purchased and collected giving it a true DIY Fan Zine feel.

The Output

MojoZine was imediately a hit with our audience. Our open rate gew ten fold over the next few months and our first small run of print editions sold out overnight. This also significantly increased traffic to our website from our email campaign making MojoZine a vital component in our overall marketing plan.
